We are delighted to announce the appointment of Sérgio Varela Alves as Senior Tax Advisor at TACLE. With an outstanding academic and professional background, Sérgio brings to our team extensive expertise in both domestic and international taxation, further strengthening TACLE’s ability to provide clients with comprehensive, rigorous, and strategic advisory services.
Graduated in Law and Master in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, where he served as a Visiting Lecturer in several subjects — Tax Law, International Economic Law, Financial Markets Law, and European Union Law — he is currently an Assistant Professor (Visiting) at the Higher Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Lisbon.
With a career entirely dedicated to taxation, Sérgio has solid experience in advising companies, investors, and individuals, having assisted in numerous national and international transactions in matters of tax planning, taxation of residents and non-residents, expatriate regimes, corporate restructurings, tax audits, and compliance with obligations before the Portuguese Tax Authority.
Author of several articles on international taxation and the taxation of residents and non-residents, he communicates fluently in English and Spanish. His most recent publications in the field of Tax Law include:

New Legal Player: Teresa Arriaga e Cunha Launches TACLE for Corporate, Real Estate, and Immigration
TACLE presents itself as a legal boutique designed to support both national and international clients, with a focus on People – Immigration, Real Estate, and Wealth – and on the corporate side.
Teresa Arriaga e Cunha created TACLE to provide integrated legal management in Corporate, Real Estate, and Immigration. The firm positions itself as a legal boutique with a focus on People and Businesses – from individuals and families to SMEs, start-ups, and the innovation ecosystem.

Teresa Arriaga e Cunha, founder of TACLE, states:

Teresa holds a Law degree, a Master’s in Law and Management, and a postgraduate diploma in Corporate Law from Universidade Católica Portuguesa. She also earned an LL.M. (Master of Laws) from Washington University in St. Louis, USA.
Before founding TACLE, she worked at several national and international law firms, including Ferreira Pinto & Associados, Garrigues, and LVP Advogados, focusing on Real Estate, Corporate Law, and Immigration. She also served as Legal Counsel at CTT – Correios de Portugal.
In addition to its core focus on Corporate, Real Estate & Wealth, and Immigration, TACLE applies a four-step legal service model for those investing, living, or launching projects in Portugal: Legal Check-up, Legal Diagnosis, Personalized Action Plan, and Ongoing Support.
